Skovgårdsskolen in Gentofte

In the spring of 2014 Filiorum implemented a Stage Art on the Curriculum program focusing on the performance “Ung Blond Pige” (A Young blond Girl) by the Theatre st. tv (Ground Floor Left). The play was performed for four 7. grade classes at the Skovgård School in Gentofte.

Through pre-performance learning steps prepared by Filiorum’s theatre pedagogue, the theatre experience was integrated into the teaching. After the performance at the school, the challenges, values, and statements presented in the play were processed. The 7. graders at the Skovgård School were doing a project on the theme of “The Good Life”. This project was supplemented by a customized Filiorum course, focusing on the performance of Young Blond Girl, the Theatre Ground Floor Left’s thought-provoking play exploring the themes of loneliness, discrimination, and forbidden love.

“We chose the performance because it examines interesting themes that go straight to the hearts of teenagers, who experience these issues in their own lives. We planned a course that challenged them and spoke to them at eye-level. Moreover, our design complemented the school’s teaching efforts and negotiated the specific requirements for each level in the Danish Folkeskole from educational and aesthetic perspectives.” explains Clarissa Meister-Petersen, who leads Filiorum.
